Well here I sit on a Sunday evening in June and I must say I am incredibly grateful that summer has finally come. I am getting excited about the Summer Solstice Retreat coming up at Menla Mountain retreat in the Catskills. I swear the Lady Bugs are three times the size because of all the fresh clean air. This place has black bears that run through the grounds and frogs in their pond. The deer will come up to the yoga room and look in. Now this is something to be grateful for. As you can see Leslie trying to catch a frog.
Unfortunately we no longer have frogs on Long Island. Too many pesticides being sprayed I am sure. The deer are disappearing too. They are considered a nuisance and then they seem to disappear. Enough of this. Again I will stay with being grateful. This Tuesday is my first CSA pickup and I am so excited. Fresh, locally grown produce. I have also decided to grow veggies and fruits in my garden pots instead of showy flowers. This should be interesting. My beautiful CSA at Fox Hollow Farms.
I would also like to share that once again I have met the most amazing women (and men) on my Memorial Day visit to Yogaville in Va. Krishna Das visits each year to Swami Satchinanada’s Ashram to play kirtan. It was shear pleasure to sing and dance with new and old friends. As you will see my old friend Angela on the left and my new friend, Anne on the right. Krishna Das in between all of us. Seven days of being awoken with the sound of a gentle violin being played by Mataji at 5:30a.m., vegan meals and lights out at 10:30. Now all of this is a lot to be grateful for. Yes!
Love and light to all. May your summer be one to be grateful for: no matter what. Diana
