6 Ways To Get In The Driver’s Seat Of Your Emotional Life

6 Ways To Get In The Driver’s Seat Of Your Emotional LifeDespite what well-meaning people have told you, other people don’t exist to make you happy and they’re not responsible for how you feel. Likewise, you’re not in this life to jump through hoops in order to make others happy. You’re here to keep yourself on your own life path in the healthiest way possible, while harming none. This is not to say you accept abuse or remain in a relationship that isn’t supportive and loving. It just means you don’t allow yourself to be tossed about in stormy seas without a sail.

Here are my basic 6 ways to get in the driver’s seat of your emotional life. If you practice them, you’ll find you won’t be as susceptible to being hurt by off-hand or unfiltered remarks from others.

1. Develop good boundaries. If you’re not sure of what you think, believe, or want, you’ll be prone to being tossed around in someone else’s stormy sea. Be mindful of what emotional “stuff” belongs to you and what belongs to someone else.

2. Be yourself. This is mandatory! You’re here on the planet to be you, not a copy of anyone else.

3. Let go of the expectations of others. This means you get to live your own life and dismiss what others think you should or should not be.

4. Allow yourself to be imperfect. Give yourself some space to be real. Offer the same to everyone in your sphere.

5. Nurture the relationships with people you can trust who accept you as you are and who forgive (or ignore) your human foibles.

6. Free your mind from the judgment that things aren’t the way they’re supposed to be. Have no doubt that all is well and in perfect alignment.

“Boy Do I “Get It.”

Spiritual Healing Process Boy Do I “Get It.” My Update
By: Diana Ross, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

“Anyone who has witnessed the gradual lessening of someone’s spirit (or enthusiasm) for life, for relationship, or for his or her work knows what it is to see the physical part of that person’s life shrivel into dust. Without participation of the human spirit, nothing can remain in healthy physical form.

This is absolutely real in the world of healing. Those that heal have Spirit. Spirit is essential to the healing process, and when any individual is unable to engage the power of his of her own spirit on the healing journey, that person is preparing to die.”

Intuitive Diagnosis Caroline Myss, Ph.D

It has taken me this long to be able to share with everyone my current journey with lung cancer, my quality of life, and Spirit. I have been humbled by this disease. I have been blessed by this disease. I have been closer to God and felt forsaken by God but I get it that maintaining a healthy “Spirit” is the key; without it quality of life is over.

After having my breast cancer I thought cancer isn’t that hard so when I was diagnosed with lung cancer my attitude was the same. I thought I had the answers. Well I can officially say I don’t have the answers and am humbled by my gross misunderstandings. My heart goes out to everyone who has to walk this walk of cancer and especially to those that don’t have the support, love and hope.

Dawn and I started Breast Cancer Yoga to offer Hope; to Inspire our readers to continue seeing their healing journey. To read about miracles, to make better food choices, to try new healthy alternative sources but it all pales if your Spirit is beat up by the disease. I have been there. Crying in the shower because I had zero energy to wash my hair – so I cut it off and now take baths and ask for help. I cannot do this on my own. Nor can anyone else. Ask for help. Let your friends help. They want too. I never knew I was loved so much until now. Heck I fell in love with my husband all over again. He has been my hope. Maybe instead of the blog reading being INSPIRED it should read being INSPIRIT.

My comments I want to leave you with is forgive everyone, which includes forgiving yourself, release all resentments; they are useless for healing. Don’t regret what you have done just shine a light on it and send it too on its way. Love is the answer so don’t hesitate with the hugs and loving comments. Be sincere. God is watching. I want to live but I do realize that cleaning my spiritual house is important and impermanence is just that – The flow of life.

Can Yoga Props Help in Nurturing Emotional Support?

Breast Cancer Recovery With Yoga Props By Diana Ross, E-RYT 500 Co Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

Yoga props aid in several therapeutic functions which includes emotional support. They offer a nurturing emotional support to the entire body and/or areas that need to be specifically nurtured, and are in need of rest. Often, the poses most beneficial for a particular condition may not be attainable due to physical limitations. However, these poses can become possible with props, while still allowing for any limitations or lack of strength. Consequently, without the use of props the speed of recovery would not be as apparent. In a therapeutic setting, the sequence of the poses and the amount of time each pose is held is as important as the pose itself. The supportive nature of props enable a person to remain longer in the pose comfortably, than without their support.

Another benefit of using yoga props is that they facilitate a person’s ability to overcome emotions such as fear, stress and anxiety. Without props, there may be a fear of falling, being unbalanced or there may be muscle contractions. Fear can stop the progress of healing and reinforce negative emotions which may impede recovery. It is not unusual due to fear, anxiety, or physical discomfort to hold the breath or contract muscles; muscles that should be relaxed during a pose, frequently the source of an imbalance. When a misalignment in the body occurs, it makes the body more susceptible to injury or delayed healing.

Props can create an innate, balanced, kinesthetic awareness of the correct structural alignment of the body. This is when props are strategically placed, correcting the body’s misalignment. This coming into a natural alignment will promote an emotional state of well being and nurturance. The use of different props may also facilitate an experience into a deeper sense of wellness that lies within the physical body. It is here when we can come into the moment, and allow ourselves to enjoy all the support and nurturing of yoga props. It is a wonderful gift.
