She holds two Master’s degrees, one in Personalized Nutrition (distinction), and another in Health Psychology. She is a Registered Nutritional Therapist, Certified Professional Cancer Coach, and Cancer Guide, and has undertaken considerable post-graduate studies in integrative naturopathic oncology. She is the author of “Choices in mind-body medicine for cancer patients in Sonoma County, California” and her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Ruth works with cancer patients and their families using an integrative, functional medicine approach, through her practice, CALMERme – Cancer Advocacy through Lifestyle Medicine, Empowerment, and Research at CALMERme.com. This work involves researching how combining traditional medical treatments with nutrition and lifestyle medicine can significantly improve both quality of life and outcome. While traditional medicine focuses on trying to get rid of the cancer, Ruth’s approach aims to make the body inhospitable to cancer, and to restore balance and health. She has a reputation for inspiring hope and enabling well-being in mind, body, and spirit at every stage of cancer (including prevention). Ruth works directly with clients in face-to-face meetings, on the phone, or using Facetime/Skype.
Her leisure time is spent with her husband, John and pet parrot, Harold. She loves to sing, cook, and hike, and enjoys the beautiful outdoors of Sonoma County, CA.
