Tribute To Diana Ross

Memorial Tree

By: Dawn Bradford-Lange, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

After a long six-month battle with lung cancer, Diana Ross passed peacefully in her home with family by her side. Diana was a co-founder of Breast Cancer Yoga and well-known, accomplished yoga teacher who taught for more than 20 years. Bringing more than just knowledge, Diana reached an audience that embraced her spirituality. Having been to India, twice, she fully immersed herself in her teachings. In her last months, family and friends surrounded her with a vast amount of love. We will mourn her presence for a long time to come. Soak in the light she brought into our lives, and take with us her knowledge and spirituality.

I’m Still Here
Friend, please don’t mourn for me
I’m still here though you don’t see
I’m right by your side each night and day
And within your heart I long to stay
My body is gone but I’m always near
I’m everything you feel, see or hear
My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart

Breast Cancer Yoga Family Will Miss You

“Boy Do I “Get It.”

Spiritual Healing Process Boy Do I “Get It.” My Update
By: Diana Ross, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

“Anyone who has witnessed the gradual lessening of someone’s spirit (or enthusiasm) for life, for relationship, or for his or her work knows what it is to see the physical part of that person’s life shrivel into dust. Without participation of the human spirit, nothing can remain in healthy physical form.

This is absolutely real in the world of healing. Those that heal have Spirit. Spirit is essential to the healing process, and when any individual is unable to engage the power of his of her own spirit on the healing journey, that person is preparing to die.”

Intuitive Diagnosis Caroline Myss, Ph.D

It has taken me this long to be able to share with everyone my current journey with lung cancer, my quality of life, and Spirit. I have been humbled by this disease. I have been blessed by this disease. I have been closer to God and felt forsaken by God but I get it that maintaining a healthy “Spirit” is the key; without it quality of life is over.

After having my breast cancer I thought cancer isn’t that hard so when I was diagnosed with lung cancer my attitude was the same. I thought I had the answers. Well I can officially say I don’t have the answers and am humbled by my gross misunderstandings. My heart goes out to everyone who has to walk this walk of cancer and especially to those that don’t have the support, love and hope.

Dawn and I started Breast Cancer Yoga to offer Hope; to Inspire our readers to continue seeing their healing journey. To read about miracles, to make better food choices, to try new healthy alternative sources but it all pales if your Spirit is beat up by the disease. I have been there. Crying in the shower because I had zero energy to wash my hair – so I cut it off and now take baths and ask for help. I cannot do this on my own. Nor can anyone else. Ask for help. Let your friends help. They want too. I never knew I was loved so much until now. Heck I fell in love with my husband all over again. He has been my hope. Maybe instead of the blog reading being INSPIRED it should read being INSPIRIT.

My comments I want to leave you with is forgive everyone, which includes forgiving yourself, release all resentments; they are useless for healing. Don’t regret what you have done just shine a light on it and send it too on its way. Love is the answer so don’t hesitate with the hugs and loving comments. Be sincere. God is watching. I want to live but I do realize that cleaning my spiritual house is important and impermanence is just that – The flow of life.

My Coffee Enema Breaks – No Cream and No Sugar

Complementary Treatments Coffee EnemaDiana Ross, ERYT 500, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

Still moving right along with all my cancer protocols and this one treatment, coffee enemas is a key one. I started off doing 4 to 5 a day and then decided enough already and am down to a manageable 2 a day. Here in lies the key or operative word – manageable. If you are truly serious about transforming your health in a dramatic way, implementing coffee enemas into your regular routine is essential for achieving the life-changing results you need to drastically improve your health or in my case rid yourself of cancer. This goes for anyone. There are good reasons for incorporating coffee enemas, for example:

Coffee enemas reduce your system toxicity dramatically by 700%. Coffee enemas when prepared a specific way stimulate the production of glutathione S-transferase (GST) in the liver. It is spoken that GST is the “Master Detoxifier” in the body. This powerful enzyme binds with toxins throughout the body and flushes them out during the enema process.

Coffee enemas cleanse and heal the colon, digestive tract and manage peristalsis. These enemas cleanse and flush the digestive tract and colon without disrupting the beneficial intestinal tract flora. When you continue to routinely use coffee enemas your digestive tract will stay clean and free of debris and toxic buildup. Plus the peristalsis will move food through the digestive track and organs that connect to the bladder and kidneys.

Coffee Enemas increase energy, improves mental clarity and mood. Coffee enemas remove toxic sludge, help with decreased oxygen or clogged intestines which leaves someone fatigued and depleted. By direct absorption of caffeine and palmitates into the bloodstream, it stimulates and releases bile and the efficient removal of toxic waste. This can be so powerful that people remarkably feel an instant surge of energy, and a “feel good” mood.

Coffee enemas knock out parasites, and candida. When we expose ourselves to chemicals in the air, water, food and environment we expose ourselves to parasites and toxins. There is a build up unless we actually do detox programs or coffee enemas which help to irrigate and flush out these impurities. I would also recommend a full Parasite Detox program as well. We can infest our body again and again.

Coffee enemas help to detox and repair the liver. It isn’t uncommon to have bloating, stomach pain, gas and other problems associated with poor digestion. The liver has a big job and we overburden it with all that we ingest. This is especially true if you are doing any chemotherapy. You want your liver to be in tip top shape. Here is where coffee enemas help the livers function in unloading all the toxins. This gives the liver a chance to repair itself too.

Coffee enemas help to decrease pain. This is one of the biggest reasons my sister, Valarie (who recently died of liver cancer) used coffee enemas. It helped her manage her pain. It can offer powerful analgesic benefits.

Coffee enemas heal and prevent chronic illness. As we get older our body increasing needs to be nurtured more and more, otherwise illness can set in and become chronic. Coffee enemas are by far one of the most effective way to cleanse the body of debris. If you have cancer, a chronic illness, or any debilitating disease I would highly recommend using coffee enemas.

Dr. Gerson, the doctor I originally followed placed so much emphasis on doing coffee enemas as the key ingredient to cancer-curing. I personally love my “coffee breaks”. I get to stop, rest and welcome a healing.

Precaution With every activity – especially those concerning your health – have risks and coffee enemas are not free from risks. However, many of us are willing to assume risk in our lives because of the benefits.

Soothing and Healing FIR Infrared Cancer Treatment

Far Infrared Therapy For CancerBy Diana Ross Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

This is week three of some pretty incredible alternative cancer treatments. I was fortunate enough to buy this FIR Infrared “Rainbow” some time back for aches and pains for me and my family. Now I use it all the time to generate heat “fever heat.” When cancer cells are heated past 41/43c degrees the blood flow is insufficient for the proper elimination of wastes (namely lactic acid) or proper oxygenation, due to the inability of the capillaries to dilate effectively at this higher temperature. Consequently the cancer cells become oxygen-deprived and lactic acid build ups, the pH of the cell will steadily drop, and the cell will die of its own acidity. Healthy cells have no problem regulating themselves at the same temperature (+ 41 degrees C) so I realized that this is a potential cancer treatment without damaging side effects to healthy cells!

What is Far Infrared therapy (FIR) and what does it do?

FIR Infrared Rays are waves of energy, totally invisible to the naked eye and capable of penetrating deep into the human body. The rays gently elevate the body’s surface temperature (107.6F/42 celsius and above; this enables the destruction of cancer cells), and activate major bodily functions.FIR Infrared Therapy For Cancer

FIR Infrared Studies:

Non-Thermal Effects of Far-Infrared Ray
Inhibitory Effects of Far-Infrared Irradiation Melanoma Cell Growth
Therapeutic benefits of irradiation with far-infrared rays (FIR) on breast cancer
FIR heat can penetrate through the body and kill cancerous cells
This finding suggested that FIR should be very effective medical treatment for some cancer cells
Studies investigating the effects of broadband infrared radiation (IR) on cancer cell

Another thing that I am doing is applying castor oil treatments (pack) over my chest and organs. I saturate the oil on a piece of flannel fabric. Placing a towel underneath my back (just in case) keeps the area clean from any leaks.

Castor oil works as an antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agent. When applied topically it treats a variety of skin conditions, reduces pain, and stimulates immune system function. It also acts as a lymphatic stimulant so for me to have lymphatic node tumors – it works. Castor oil has been thoroughly investigated for its industrial use but only a minimal amount of research has been focused on its medicinal benefits. That said, the healing properties of castor oil appears to have survived countless generations of scrutiny. One of the more compelling health benefits is castor oil’s support of your immune system. This healing property does not require you ingesting the oil but only to apply it externally. The benefits of castor oil packs were popularized by the late psychic healer Edgar Cayce.

My friend Lorraine Aguilar from http://www.yogaflowstudio.com is my model. We spent the day going through all my protocols. It was a lot of fun checking everything out. Lorraine brought a “Heart and Lung” Yoga Video for us to explore so there was a lot of sharing and caring.

Last note I am also doing FIR Infrared Sauna treatments which is far more intense for the whole body but very therapeutic. I will save that for another day. Lots more to share. love and light everyone. Please post comments. I enjoy dialoging.

Amma Therapy – My Next Favorite Cancer Treatment

Amma Therapy Cancer TreatmentBy Diana Ross, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

I love my Amma cancer treatments. I have had the great fortune to have incredible healing practitioners coming into my life and working on and with me. Elizabeth Valenzuela is just one of these special people. Her wholistic and spiritual approach to healthy living is an adventure for me into understanding myself and reaching my true destiny of love and purpose. I know it sounds corny but I am learning so much and I so believe that Elizabeth was placed on my path of wellness to expand my consciousness and gain a greater awareness of purpose. Elizabeth and her Amma Therapy make this possible. Besides being a spiritual and sensitive person, her passion lies with helping animals that suffer and cannot speak. She has such a loving connection to all creatures.

So What is Amma Therapy?

Amma Therapy is an ancient healing system which dates back some 5000 years ago during the Yellow Emperor era. It is a highly skilled system of body work therapy which employs massage techniques, manipulations, and the application of pressure, friction and touch-to-points on the energy channels on which they are found. The channels are the pathways through which energy passes throughout our bodies. Amma, is less defined by a specific technique than by its purpose, philosophy, and sophisticated practice as a healing art.

Amma Therapy is fundamentally an energetic therapy focused on the balance and movement of “life energy” in the human body. Starting with the basic application of hand techniques used to balance the flow of energy. Then other methods were developed, including the use of needles (acupuncture), heat (moxibustion), skeletal manipulation, the appropriate use of herbal medications, diet, and then meditation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) all these methods target the flow and balance of energy in the channels. The modern Amma therapist is knowledgeable in all of these areas but relies primarily on the sensitivity and strength of the hands to manipulate life energy.

Am-ma means “push-pull” in Chinese. Amma Therapy utilizes all the techniques of the major forms of therapeutic massage:

Deep pressure and point manipulation used in Shiatsu massage are applied to attain the desired effects of energetic movement and release of muscular contraction.

Foot reflex points commonly referred to as “foot reflexology” are stimulated during to these points which often has a profound outcome on the deeper organs and tissues within the body.

Deep facial manipulation techniques and connective tissue manipulation used in Rolfing are used for muscle stretching and pushing techniques that are common to European or Swedish massage.

In addition, the master therapist is well versed in, and fully capable of, the skeletal manipulations that are the basis of chiropractic. Elizabeth also uses essential oils and healing crystals. She feels the energy blockages and moves energy through. I can feel the warmth rising and my breath being freed. Love my Amma Treatments. Love having Elizabeth in my life especially now. But everything has a reason to appear so here I am sharing my next favorite treatment.

love and light,
Diana

In Two Short Weeks

Diana's Desk - Breast Cancer Authority BlogBy: Diana Ross, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

Last I shared on the blog I expressed an attitude of gratitude which now has to expand. Never did I think in the last two short weeks I would watch my big sister take her last breath, nor did I think I would be diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer but both happened. I don’t even know how to express all of this but I do know that I want to share everything on my journey to wellness. I will not let this cancer take my life. There is too much to do and to share. My sister, Valerie had a big obstacle to hurdle. She had Stage 4 Breast Cancer in her liver. She prevailed for over a year with changing her diet using the vegan Gerson Diet but ultimately the disease took her life.

I have a renewed attitude of gratitude in the sense that I have everyone on this blog who has gone through this experience and more sharing and caring. I am learning so much and so quickly. I feel it most important to share everything I learn with all of you. There are no cures necessarily but there are opportunities to expand awareness into how to heal yourself.

The first thing that keeps coming up is unconditional love. BIG! How does one love them self unconditionally? It is the key to wellness, and to happiness. Harboring resentments, remorse, guilt, shame and judgement is easy but it is unhealthy. It creates imbalance, dis-ease and then illness. In my heart I know where this all started so now I sit in a deeper seat of gratitude to figure this out so that I may be of bigger service. I want to love; really love myself, my family, my husband and my friends.

I want to thank everyone that has helped me learn that I am not alone and that miracles happen. Each week I will share what new approach to wellness I discovered. For example Louise Hay and her teachings of unconditional love and that words have power. Using certain essential oils specific for each organ of the body, PawPaw a herb of tremendous power, Vit C IVs, Ozone treatments, prayers for our food, music for our hearts and so on.

I hope this can be our moments of gratitude together.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Angela Strynkowski, Krishna Das, Diana Ross & Anne Alexander

By Diana Ross, E-RYT 500 Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.

Well here I sit on a Sunday evening in June and I must say I am incredibly grateful that summer has finally come. I am getting excited about the Summer Solstice Retreat coming up at Menla Mountain retreat in the Catskills. I swear the Lady Bugs are three times the size because of all the fresh clean air. This place has black bears that run through the grounds and frogs in their pond. The deer will come up to the yoga room and look in. Now this is something to be grateful for. As you can see Leslie trying to catch a frog.

Frog Pond At Menla Mountin Retreat

Unfortunately we no longer have frogs on Long Island. Too many pesticides being sprayed I am sure. The deer are disappearing too. They are considered a nuisance and then they seem to disappear. Enough of this. Again I will stay with being grateful. This Tuesday is my first CSA pickup and I am so excited. Fresh, locally grown produce. I have also decided to grow veggies and fruits in my garden pots instead of showy flowers. This should be interesting. My beautiful CSA at Fox Hollow Farms.

CSA at Fox Hollow Farms on Long Island

I would also like to share that once again I have met the most amazing women (and men) on my Memorial Day visit to Yogaville in Va. Krishna Das visits each year to Swami Satchinanada’s Ashram to play kirtan. It was shear pleasure to sing and dance with new and old friends. As you will see my old friend Angela on the left and my new friend, Anne on the right. Krishna Das in between all of us. Seven days of being awoken with the sound of a gentle violin being played by Mataji at 5:30a.m., vegan meals and lights out at 10:30. Now all of this is a lot to be grateful for. Yes!

Love and light to all. May your summer be one to be grateful for: no matter what. Diana

My Story

Diana Ross Family PictureBy: Diana Ross Co-Founder Breast Cancer Yoga

Well our (me, my daughter, Dawn, and granddaughter, Desiree) first year anniversary for the authority blog is here. Unbelievable that the blog has turned out to be one of the most loving community based forums so I thought it fair and appropriate to share my own story about breast cancer.

My daughter, Dawn and I lived in Brockport, NY in the late 70s and early 80s. I studied at SUNY Brockport for a BS in Physical Education, Health Sciences and Holistic Health. Obviously I was well entrenched in health. Being vegan, on the Swim Team and an avid bike cyclist should spell out good health. Well one day I felt that lump in my right breast and boy was it painful. I did ignore it initially, after all I didn’t even have a doctor to go to. Finally a friend said check it out; go to Planned Parenthood. I did and sure enough they sent me to a breast surgeon and after a few tests it came back as cancer. Now comes the truth about my journey. I really didn’t connect with this cancer. Again, after all I was doing everything right and I just finished my education on how complementary therapies, a clean vegan diet and exercise are viable alternatives to the chemotherapy, radiation or worse both for the cure. I refused the offered treatments and believed that I needed to go deeper. I did feel that my breast cancer was a manifestation of all the painful events in my past. I know not all of you see it that way but I did suppress a lot of painful past memories. I knew I needed to release that pain and begin to forgive others as well as myself.

After my lumpectomy I then decided to become a raw vegan. Heck I got down to a approximately 5% body fat. I committed myself to a yoga and meditation practice, and I slowed everything up. I wanted to vibrate at the earth’s level. I was known to be a bit on the fast side so this in itself was quite the challenge. Dawn and I then moved to Long Island from Rochester. We stayed at a friend’s home by the beach while I slowly looked for a job. I was fortunate to have a friend that supported me, and I must tell you Dawn and I were happy moving to Long Island. It was like moving and living inside a terrarium. Paradise I tell you. All this helped me move on and heal. Back then there were no Pink anythings, no support groups and very little conversation. I refused to commit to my breast cancer. However, I did commit to myself and proved that how I lived and loved was the cure for me.

My sister recently shared her story. https://breastcanceryogablog.com/2014/03/22/my-journey-with-cancer/ She was diagnosis with Stage 4 but we talked about this commitment of staying healthy and looking at life a bit differently. She too is vegan. She believed the Gerson Diet was the way and she is doing awesome. Now my story is mine and not to be confused with anyone else’s. You need to do what your heart tells you to do. That is the answer: to believe and then to manifest health.

Even today it feels just like a story and not like it really happened. Something tells me I am not alone with that thought.

Better Late Then Never

Diana Ross - Diana's Desk March 2014By: Diana Ross, E-RYT 500 Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga, Diana’s Desk – March 2014.

I know, I know you must have thought I disappeared but I didn’t – I have been suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Snow Disorder). Even now I put my pj’s on early hoping to wake up the next day to spring but I just heard, “more snow.”  Well Breast Cancer Yoga has been busy all winter both here in my winter home and down in Florida at my daughter’s home. The authority blog has been awesome. It has a life of it’s own with tons of great information coming in from wonderful talented expert contributors. I never have to ask; it just flows. Thank God.

Now I am excited that I finally got my sister, Valerie to share her story which is truly inspirational. Hope, and putting a practice in place is key and Valerie shares that. Thanks sis.

Also my famous Master Herbalist teacher is back, Patricia Krysti Howell. She has finally agreed to contribute. I want her to get each and everyone of you excited about plants, one at a time, just the way I did. There is so much powerful healing in plant medicines.  Dr. Ellen Kamhi, our Natural Nurse is also sharing each wednesday about foods, medicines, illnesses, remedies – you name it. Her repertoire is immense. Thrilled to have these two women sharing their knowledge.

Did I mention? Got a new dog, “Ram” BEAU. He is such a delight. Missing my Riley still. He was a true therapy dog, and my students miss him too. Although there is nothing like rescuing and then loving a new dog. Unconditional love. Of course that is if you can get your socks out of Beau’s mouth.

Last but not least I will be giving an amazing retreat this summer with my friend, Lorraine Aguilar, yoga teacher therapist extraordinaire. It is during the summer solstice and we are going to have lots of yoga, chanting, native american ceremonies and even a sweat lodge. Check it out.  http://www.breastcanceryoga.com/InTheSpiritOfFire.html
It is in a magical place – Menla Mountain Retreat http://www.menla.org

Stay well and pray for sun, warm weather and on going light.
Peace. Diana

Why I Sing Mantra

Why I Sing Mantra Diana's Desk

By: Diana Ross, E-RYT 500 Co-Founder Breast Cancer Yoga

Well, I know it has been forever since I wrote in the “Diana’s Desk” section. Somehow felt no one was listening but then I thought again and said “This is good for me.  It keeps my enthusiasm and connectedness going.”  I do love life, and I do get sad.  I guess just like all of us.

Recently I lost my best friend, Riley and I still am having difficulty coming to terms with it but I know in my heart I must. So what can I do? Well, there is one thing I keep returning to that helps me feel connected and not so alone and that  is music and mantra.  I have been learning how to play harmonium and sing mantra with this wonderful woman, Shyama. One particular mantra seems to really bring peace to my aching heart, and that is the Hanuman Chalisa.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0gRc2FMNsU

For those of you new to mantra – please let me explain. Mantra is like uncovering your inner essence. When repeating a mantra over and over one reveals something deeper within, as to what we show on the surface or superficial layer. Mantra can be one word, a phrase or a combination of both with sound. Together this helps us to connect to this world and the world that transcends our ordinary sensory and intellectual experiences.  The mind holds us in this world when we repeat the mantra and then slowly and surely the mantra is internalized. The mantra is then beyond this world.

Mantras are not puzzling or unexplainable. Instead they simply are to gather up the energies of our inner life, our dreams and desires and then lift us up to them to be realized. Repeating mantra with music for me is the most satisfying form of peace and connectedness. When I sit in front of my harmonium and let myself go while singing mantra I disconnect from the words and feel connected to the infinite.  An inner quiet sweeps over me.  It’s me; not what I feel me should be. I feel connected to what the mantra embodies. I don’t know if I am making sense to you but when I sing or even repeat mantra my mind remains focused and my heart opens. The sounds fill the space in my mind and other silly and useless thoughts leave my awareness, thus stabilizing my attention. I begin to sense that I am more than my mind’s endless chatter. I begin to feel a deeper enduring pressence of happiness, and hopefully purpose. Thanks for listening and please check out Krishna Das’s Hanuman Chalisa. Absolutely one of my favorites.
